Flume-Gorge Hike

In all my years hiking up in the White Mountains, I have never hiked the Flume-Gorge trail. My sights were always set on elevation, the views from the mountain tops. But....being on an exposed mountain top on a rainy day is less appealing to me. So, when one feels the drive to get out in the woods, but it happens to be raining, I aim for lower elevation. Flume-Gorge seemed the perfect opportunity to get out and go.

It was so green and cool. The rain made the air just smell more clean, more refreshing.

The waterfall in the Gorge was roaring and drowned out the sounds of anyone else around.

I hesitantly squeezed myself (no pack) through the Wolves' Den (much darker in there than I was completely comfortable with). But I was happy I took the detour, even for the short step outside my comfort zone.

And I would definitely say the day was another great chance to explore something new!
